Dialers: Dial-Up Networking

  1. Double-click on the My Computer icon located on your desktop.

  2. My Computer
  3. Double-click on the Control Panels folder.

  4. Locate the Network Control Panel icon. Double-click on it.

  5. Network Control Panel
  6. You only need to have TCP/IP and your network adapter listed. You may, however, have several other componentes installed. These should not interfere with your DSL connection.  You will want to go into the properties of TCP/IP linked to your ethernet adaptor.  To do this either double click on it or highlight it and click on properties.

  7. The IP Address tab will be selected by default.  You will need to click on the "Specify an IP address:" radial button and enter your static IP in the IP Address field and 255.255.255.0 in Subnet Mask. If you have more than one static IP address the subnet may be different.

  8. Now click on the "WINS Configuration" tab.  Make sure this is set to "Disable WINS Resolution."

  9. Now click on the "Gateway" tab.  You will need to enter in your default gateway.  Your gateway will be the same as your static IP address except that it will end in ".1"  Make sure that you click "Add" after typing it in and it appears under "Installed gateways:."

  10. Now click on the "DNS Configuration" tab.  Select "Enable DNS." Under "Host:" enter your AEBC username and for "Domain:" enter "aebc.com."  Now enter 209.53.200.2 and 209.53.200.3 under "DNS Server Search Order."

That's all there is to it.  Now just click "OK" and click "OK" again. Windows will restart your connection and you will be up and running.
